5 MAY BANGERS BY GREG SAWYER
Additive Music founder Greg Sawyer gives us his picks of May

SIDEPIECE - Lick
SIDEPIECE return with “Lick” – a slick little groover that doesn’t try too hard but lands all the same. Out on Toolroom, it clocks in at under three minutes and gets straight to the point: tight percussion, a cheeky vocal sample, and that crisp, rolling low-end they’ve made their trademark. Polished, punchy, and tailor-made for peak-time sets.
Ragie Ban - The Pieces
Ragie Ban returns with his latest single, "Pieces" - a sharp fusion of deep house textures, tech house grit, and disco-tinged flair. Built around a playful piano motif and a patchwork of vocal fragments, "Pieces" strikes an offbeat balance between dancefloor functionality and leftfield creativity.
The Wild Child - In A Struggle
"In A Struggle” is a low-key, slow-burning track that floats somewhere between deep and melodic house. There’s a gentle touch to it: live instruments weaving through soft, spacious grooves, with a vocal that hits in a quiet, personal kind of way. Shaped by his North African roots and time spent deep in the underground, The Wild Child's sound leans into organic textures without overloading the mix.
HASKELL - The Power of Speech
London’s HASKELL makes his move on Insomniac’s IN / ROTATION with a punchy two-tracker called The Power of Speech. The title track is a tight, no-nonsense tech house jam — loaded with squelchy synths, chunky bass, and snappy percussion, all circling around a classic spoken-word sample that gives it a bit of weight without going full preachy.
Yscene & Stanlei - Letters From Yayla
This month saw the launch of Avenoir, a new imprint from Moroccan duo Zakem & Yescene, focused on deep, afro, and melodic house. Kicking things off is Letters From Layla. The track blends StanLei’s haunting vocal style and poetic writing with Yescene’s jazz-leaning sensibility and crisp production. There’s cello, a warm, legato bassline, and a slow-burning arrangement that pulls you in gently.
